Sedation

h-pediatric6We have an experienced pediatric anesthesiologist on staff that administers Intravenous (“IV”) sedation. IV sedation is sometimes known as “sleep dentistry” or “twilight dentistry,” and involves administering a dose of sedatives directly into the bloodstream via an IV. The pediatric anesthesiologist administers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or a small injection in the arm, prior to starting the IV. With this technique, the process is very easy for the child. IV sedation is highly effective for children who are fearful or anxious about their dental visits, as the sedative will calm the patient almost immediately.

Before treatment, please inform your child’s dentist about any medications or medical treatments they are receiving. Before administering the sedation, the pediatric anesthesiologist will talk discuss pre-and post-sedation instructions with you.
