Ken Sellers, DDS
EDUCATION
Dr. Ken Sellers’ path into dentistry has been very unconventional. He was born in Hazlehurst, GA, where he grew up loving sports and anything outdoors. He graduated with honors from Jeff Davis High School and then attended Mercer University for two years before transferring to the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
PASSION
For the next 17 years he started up and sold several businesses, including a coffee roasting company, an unfinished furniture manufacturing plant, and a large cabinet company. On October 31, 2009 everything changed when he lost his cabinet company in a fire. Faced with starting over he made the decision to go back to school and become a dentist.
EXPERIENCE
At 40 years of age, Dr. Sellers was accepted into the MCG School of Dentistry, where he completed dental school. He then was accepted into the Pediatric Residency Program in Augusta, where he spent the next 2 years in intensive training learning how to treat pediatric patients, ranging from the healthy to the medically complex with special needs. A segment of his training was completed at Scottish Rite and Egleston Hospitals in Atlanta, where he became adept at treating medically complex children in conjunction with the other members of their health care team. His training includes over 300 cases that were treated under general anesthesia in the OR at these institutions.
PERSONAL
Dr. Sellers is married to Angie Sellers and they have three children: Abby, Trey and Peyton. When he is not treating children he is playing golf, hunting with his kids or training his Boykin Spaniels. He loves being back in South Georgia!
